The Emery Lady Spartans continued to dominate the early portion of the region schedule with a lopsided 68-25 win over the Grand Red Devils Tuesday night in Moab.
Outscoring Grand 26-3 in the opening quarter, Emery held massive control throughout the contest. The advantaged ballooned to 42-11 at the end of the first half, once again giving head coach Lynn Tuttle an opportunity to utilize his bench.
Senior Kinlee Toomer posted a game-best 14 points, including two makes from deep to lead the Lady Spartans. Megan Jensen finished with 11 points and Kacelyn Toomer contributed 10. A total of 11 players scored at least two points in the blowout win.
Mercedes Zunich was the lone Grand player to reach double-figures, ending with a team-high 11 points. Veda Gritts contributed eight and three others scored two.
Now a perfect 5-0 in region play, the Lady Spartans sit 14-0 overall. Dating back to last season Emery has now won 29 consecutive games.
Emery will look to keep their perfect record intact with a return to the court on Thursday at home against San Juan. Tip-off for Thursday’s game is set for 6:00 p.m..
