The Carbon and Emery softball teams ended their regular seasons in Price on Thursday. It was an offensive showdown with the Dinos coming out on top 17-13.

The game remained close until the bottom of the third inning when Carbon exploded for nine runs to push the score to 11-3. Then in the fifth not showing any signs of quit the Spartans scored eight runs and the Dinos added four more to take the score to 16-11. Emery scored two more in the sixth but could never pull ahead in the contest.

Offensively for the Dinos senior Kaytlyn Cripps led the way going 3-of-4 with four RBI’s , one base on balls and two home runs. Sophomore Brooke Moosman went 3-of-5 with two RBI’s and three singles. Freshman Gracie Hansen, senior Dekota Kraushaar and senior Allee Abeyta each registered one RBI.

Offensively for the Spartans senior Adrianne Childs led the way going 3-of-5 with two RBI’s and a double. Senior Ambree Bennett went 2-of-5 with two singles and two RBI’s, senior Raegan Rassmussen was 2-of-3 with two bases on balls, one home run and one double. Senior Bailey Huggard went 2-of-5 with two singles and two RBI’s and sophomore Taleigh Price rounded out the Spartan offensive attack going 1-of-5 with two RBI’s.

On the mound for the Dinos, Mooosman went five innings giving up 13 hits, seven earned runs and struck out one earning her the win. Kraushaar came in for part of one inning, giving up three hits and striking out one and Cripps went one and 2/3 innings surrendering one hit while striking out three.

For the Spartans sophomore Kaylee Price gets the loss in this one going two innings giving up eight hits and five earned runs while striking out three. Freshman Madisyn Childs goes two innings allowing six hits with three earned runs and three strike outs and junior Braleigh Clark went one inning with one earned run and one hit.

Emery ends the regular season 12-12 overall and 5-7 in Region 15 which puts them in fourth place heading into the state playoffs which start this Saturday. They will travel to Grantsville to play Juab at 12:15. The second game will either put them against Providence Hall or the host Grantsville team.

As for Carbon who ended the season at 12-10 and 7-3 in Region 14 landing them a third place finish. The Dinos will head to Manti Saturday to face South Summit in the playoffs that game is scheduled for 11:00. In the second game of the double elimination tournament they will play either American Leadership or host Manti.
