Richard Arvel Guymon, age 70, passed away unexpectedly following a short illness January 14, 2020.

Richard was born December 16, 1949 in Price, Utah to Rex and Shirley Shiner Guymon. He graduated from Carbon High School in 1968 where he met and fell in love with Jacque Carlson. They were married January 24, 1970. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on August 2, 1975.

Richard was a coal miner for 16 years. He loved fitness and began working at Breakaway as a personal trainer, then later at the BDAC where he made many lifelong friends and shared his passion for fitness with students and the community.

The family moved to the Salt Lake Valley where Richard has spent the last 19 years. Richard loved fishing, hunting, music, giving gifts to people in his life and most of all he loved his sweet wife. Richard was a loving Grandpa and enjoyed spoiling his grandkids. He was always ready with toys and treats in exchange for a big hug.

Richard is survived by his wife and children; Jacque Carlson Guymon, Kimberly Grimes (Ashley), Becky Baker (Brad), Eric Guymon (Jessica); nine grandchildren, Harrison (Caitlyn), Madeleine Byington (Ian), Gabriella Grimes, Tyler, Joshua, Lucas, Jack Baker, Isabella and Evan Guymon; and one great-grandson, Rhett Grimes; sisters, Kathryn Jackson (Lynn), Eileen Rose (Randy); brother, David Guymon (Maryann).

He was preceded in death by brothers; Bruce and Max, brother-in-law, Randy Rose and sister-in-law, Helen Guymon; mother, Shirley Shiner and father, Rex Guymon.

Funeral service, Saturday, January 18, 2020, 11:00 a.m., at the River First Ward Chapel (7150 South Callie Drive/1520 West) in West Jordan. Family will receive friends at the church Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to service. Interment will be in the Price City Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Richard online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
