The Emery Lady Spartans are still in search of their first victory of the season after falling to the North Sanpete Hawks 5-0 on the road Thursday evening.

Trailing 1-0 at the end of the first half, Emery remained within striking distance for most of the game. The Hawks took full control finding the back of the net four times in the final stanza, opening their season with a win.

The loss, tagged with Tuesday’s setback to Union, dips Emery to 0-2 in the non-region portion of the season.

The early season road swing will continue for the Lady Spartans moving into next week. The season resumes on Thursday with another away tilt, this time against Gunnison. The first home game of the season will take place on August 18 against Juab.

So far three of the six teams that share Region 12 have opened the season. Richfield is currently 0-1 after suffering a 6-1 loss to Manti on Thursday. Carbon defeated Union 6-0 in their opener also on Thursday night.
