Alan Leslie Kirkwood, age 55, lifetime resident of Helper passed away in the early morning of August 10, 2020 due to complications from long term health issues.
Alan was born to Wallace and Alene Nielsen Kirkwood on February 18, 1965.

Alan lived his life his own way. He had a love of hard rock music and one of his favorite bands was Kiss. He had a love of Harley Davidson memorabilia and also played some guitar.

We would like to thank those people who had a positive influence and a friendly manner towards Alan. He was truly his own man and a free spirit.

Alan is survived by his brothers and their wives; David and Kelly Kirkwood and Ken and Brenda Kirkwood; nephews and nieces, Kyle and Kristen, Jeff (Leigha), Derek (Cerina), and Aubrey. Also, great nieces Peyton and Kasandra.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Dean and Catherine Kirkwood, and William and Hazel Nielsen; uncles, Bill Kirkwood, Jerry Nielsen, Rulon Nielsen, Bill Nielsen, and Gerald Cool; nephew, Michael Kirkwood, as well as cousins Lanny Kirkwood and Brian Nielsen.

It should be noted that when Kyle was little, he practically idolized his Uncle Alan. They had a close relationship. Also, Brenda deserves special recognition for always going the extra mile for Alan.

The family would like to express their appreciation to his medical team, especially the wonderful people at Castleview Dialysis Center who always went above and beyond in meeting Alan’s needs; a special thank you to the drivers that took him to and from his appointments.

The family would also like to express their appreciation to neighbors Vic and Lisa Stuart for always looking out for Alan.

Graveside service, Thursday, August 13, 2020, 1:00 p.m., Mt. View Cemetery in Helper.  Family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 7:00-8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 11:30-12:30 prior to graveside.  Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
