The Utah High School Activities Association has released its final 1A baseball RPI rankings, giving both Pinnacle and Green River their 2020 playoff matchups.

Finishing with a 4-15 record, Pinnacle will enter the single elimination tournament as the No. 12 seed. Green River, who ended with a 0-17 record, will be the 14 seed.

The playoff swill officially begin on Friday, Oct. 2 as the bottom six seeds play to advance to the second round on Oct. 3. The top four seeds all receive byes to the quarterfinals on Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Valley will enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed after accumulating a record of 18-3. Piute, Wendover and Tabiona complete the top four seeds.

Pinnacle’s opening round opponent will be Tintic, who is ranked 13th with a record of 3-12, at the Spanish Fork Sports Park at 1:00 p.m.. The meeting will be the first of the season between the two teams.

Green River will square off with No. 11 Manila in the very next game, scheduled to start at 3:15 p.m.. Playing a condensed schedule, Manila finished the regular season with a record of 3-8.

The RPI standings are determined by three statistically categories:

*MWP (Modified Winning Percentage): Divide the number of possible points by the number of total available points from games played accounting for the adjustment between classifications.

*OWP (Opponents Winning Percentage): Average of the winning percentage of a team’s opponent.

*OOWP (Opponents’ Opponents Winning Percentage): Same process as OWP except the calculation is with the opponents of the team’s opponent.
