The Carbon High School Choir and Band Concert is coming up soon and things are going to be a bit different due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Choir Teacher, Arthella Dean and Band Instructor, Adam Cunningham to talk about their upcoming shows.

“I’m excited that as of now we can do our concert. Its exciting for the kids. We do have to, like anything with the district masks are required, and just following the UHSAA requirements we’ll just have each student can only invite two people, like their parents, and the concert is shorter than normal. The seating is limited, but we have an entrance and an exit prepared, and so we follow the COVID regulations,” said Dean. The choir concert is set to take place on Monday, December 14 at 7:00 pm at the Carbon High Auditorium. They will be performing various songs to get everyone into the Christmas spirit. The choir class have recorded some of their performances so that each student is able to share with other members of their family that are unable to see the performance this year.

The band concert is scheduled for Wednesday, December 16 at 7:00 pm and will be held in the high school auditorium. “The same thing, students will be limited to two adults to attend. We’re creating a video that they can share with their friends and family. A lot of these students, some of them haven’t performed since the last Christmas concert because things got shut down right before our Spring Concert. So just a chance to get to perform and do something that they enjoy and love is, even though it may look different, it’s a great opportunity that we are finding ways to make it work and move forward,” said Cunningham. The drumline had the opportunity to perform in the annual Helper Light Parade the first part of December and each student enjoyed it very much. They will be performing a variety of Christmas songs for their guests to enjoy.

The Carbon High Choir and Band Departments both would like to wish everyone in the community a very Merry Christmas.
