
The Emery Spartans continued the swim season with a road trip against Millard, Union and Altamont Friday afternoon in Roosevelt.
The Millard Lady Eagles claimed the top spot on the girl’s side of the pool as they finished with 100 points, barely topping Emery’s 91. Union finished in third with 87, followed by Altamont with four points.
Union came out with the first place finish on the boy’s side of the pool as they gathered 120 points. Emery was second after outscoring Millard 88-67.
Haley Guymon led the Lady Spartans as she finished first in all four of the events she competed in. Guymon first won the 200 yard IM and followed that up with victories in the 200 yard free and 100 yard backstroke.
Guymon’s fourth win came in the 400 yard free style relay as she teamed with Sydney Carter, Aubrey Guymon and Cambrie Jensen. The group ended nearly 30 seconds better than second place after finishing with a time of 4:15.31.
Carter also gave the Lady Spartans a first place finish in the 100 yard free style as she finished in 1:03.96. Kaejha Johnson rounded out the individual event winners by finishing the 100 yard butterfly in 1:22.42.
Elias Morris gave Emery its first win on the boy’s side as he defeated teammate Tyler Frandsen in the 100 yard butterfly. Morris’ time of 1:06.59 topped Frandsen’s of 1:21.41.
Dax Minchey earned the second win for Emery as the Spartans finished first-through-fourth in the 100 yard freestyle. Minchey ended at 57.15, edging teammate Jacob Fauver’s 58.37.
The swim team will continue a busy week on Wednesday with a trip to Uintah. The second competition of the week will place Saturday at the Desert Wave Pool in Price.
