
The Pinnacle Boys basketball team hadn’t played since January 5th when they secured a 16 point win over the Utah Military Academy. On Wednesday night they traveled to take on the American Prep Eagles and ended up on the short end of a 61-37 score.
American Prep is a school from the West Valley area that plays in the 2A classification. They hold a 6-9 record and sit at No. 17 in the state RPI ranking.
The Eagles jumped out to an early lead scoring 20 in the first quarter and 16 in the second taking a 36-12 lead to the locker room, the Panthers came out scoring 16 in the third but the deficit was too much to overcome.
Leading the way for American Prep was Wade Hymas who led all scorers with 23. Kasey Norris added 11 and Ethan Powell scored eight in the win.
For the Panthers Christian Winder dropped in 11 points, Landen Hardy chipped in with nine as did Dominic Gutierrez.
The Panthers have a busy weekend ahead when they get another shot at American Prep this time in Price, then they will turn around and head on the road to take on Mount Vernon on Saturday, they face them back on December 19 and came up short 56-41.
The game Friday against American Prep is set to tip-off at 7.
