The Carbon Lady Dinos scored early and often as they rolled past the Grand Red Devils 96-34 Tuesday night in Moab.
Looking to rebound from Thursday’s heartbreaking loss to South Sevier, the Lady Dinos appeared focused from the opening tip-off as they improved to 4-2 in Region 12 play. The win keeps Carbon in contention for a division championship.
Makenna Blanc knocked down three shots from beyond the three-point line as she finished with a game-high 17 points. Aside from scoring, Blanc impacted the region contest in all aspects as she finished with six rebounds, six assists and four steals.
Junior Molly Banks scored a career high 15 points as she shot a stellar 75-percent from the field. Madi Orth chipped in with 11 and Sydney Orth finished with 10. A total of 14 players scored at least one point in the road win.
Defensively the Lady Dinos excelled throughout the night as they recorded 26 steals, while keeping Grand below the double-digit plateau in three of the four individual quarters.
In order to claim at least a share of the Region 12 crown each of the next four games will be considered must wins for the Lady Dinos. Games remaining include Thursday’s road tilt with Emery, another meeting Richfield and one more game against the San Juan Broncos.
The upcoming game with Emery will pack massive intrigue as the two teams will enter top three in the state. Carbon is currently No. 2, with Emery coming in right behind at No. 3. Emery won the first meeting back on Jan. 14.
