The Carbon County Commission will hold a meeting to answer questions surrounding the 2020 Municipal Tax increase and to discuss the way in which home values are assessed. The meeting will take place on March 11, at 6 pm in the Commission Chambers.

The concerns about the increase were raised when the group, “The Carbon County Property Tax Initiative”, approached the commission to request a meeting to address their concerns. Due to open meeting laws, the Commission announced that the public meeting was taking place, and were also required to put out a notification of the meeting to the public.

The possibility of a meeting to address these issues was discussed at the February 17 Commission meeting wherein a date and time was chosen.

The group, “The Carbon County Tax Initiative”, has been trying to get a possible repeal of the tax increase passed by the County Commission. They would like for the citizens to be able to vote for or against the increase.

The Commission is asking that those that may have a question about the the increase please mail their questions to: Carbon County Commission, 751 East 100 North, Price, Utah 84501. You may also email your questions to: commission@carbon.utah.gov or you may call (435) 636-3226.

Seating in the Commission Chambers will be limited due to COVID, however you can stream the meeting on the Carbon County YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/carboncountyutah
