Silicon Slopes East will be hosting a Zoom Meeting on Remote Working and Outdoor Recreation in Coal Country on Wednesday, March 3 at 12:00 pm. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Business Technical Assistance Center (BTAC) Manager, Allison Preston to talk about the event.

“A lot of it is going to be obviously about that outdoor recreation between the two counties. The Tourism Directors will go over a lot of things that are appealing in Southeast Utah whether its trails or biking or whatever it may be. They may even go in to talking about food, you know some of the little hidden gems of our Southeast Utah area,” said Preston. The panel is to show what is appealing about our area to individuals that plan to work remotely from our area.

The BTAC mission is to provide innovative ongoing professional remote workspace, services and business incubation space and a hands-on technological learning space by partnering with local governments, educational institutions and local businesses to foster an entrepreneurial ecosystem in southeast Utah.

“Especially with COVID hitting us, there’s a lot of people that have been given the opportunity to work from home and working from home means pretty much working from anywhere. So this is hopefully gearing people towards coming down to Southeast Utah, still being able to do their work through our coworking spaces but then still getting to enjoy the area,” stated Preston. BTAC facilities are located in Carbon inside the Old Reeves School Building on Carbon Avenue and the two in Emery Counties are located inside the Orangeville and Green River Libraries. The two location in Emery Counties are still being developed but should be up and running soon.
