There are some big things happening in Castle Dale that involves Main Street and Emery High School. Castle Country Radio caught up with Mayor Danny Van Wagoner to discuss all the details.

Main Street is going to get some major clean up done in the next little bit so residents are asked to travel carefully through the area as the cleanup is taking place. “Our Main Street has for a long time be looking like it’s dead and dying. Through the graciousness and a grant from the Coal Strike Team we got some money to purchase properties on our Main Street that had old buildings, no body has been in them. We will be demolishing those buildings this month,” explained Mayor Van Wagoner. The city is excited for this project as the cleanup will bring new life to the downtown area.

This project has brought in some opportunities for new businesses prospects. “We’ve had an entrepreneur business person called Great Origins Properties, they have approached us about these properties and they are wanting to put in remote working stations/offices where you have your permanent office – up to 27 different office buildings with some retail. We can’t wait for our Main Street to start looking alive and feeling energy again and moving forward,” said Mayor Van Wagoner. The business opportunities for these office buildings are endless as they could bring in clothing stores, coffee shops, etc.

A big construction project at Emery High School is set to begin next week and it will definitely make that area around the school very congested for drivers. “The Spartan Center and the theatre will be left but they will start demolishing that parking lots, all the parking lots right off the bat, right after prom week, which is right now. They will be building out into the football field they’re going to put a new soccer field in at the very far west of the high school. The football field will be relocated to the southeast corner of the high school and they purchased property and they’re going to add tennis courts,” explained Mayor Van Wagoner. Because the parking areas will be demolished there is going to be students parking along Center Street/Spartan Avenue so drivers driving through that area are asked to proceed with caution when traveling through the construction area near the high school.
