Richard Buddy ‘Bud’ Mills, age 89, passed away March 16, 2021.

He was born July 16, 1931 in Price, Utah  to John Henry Mills and LaUna ‘Daisy’ Bradley.  The youngest of 13 children and last to pass in his family.

Richard married Doris Colleen Asay December 31, 1949 and was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on June 26, 1965.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding positions in the various organizations including serving with three Bishoprics.

Richard was blessed with 4 Children, Terrie Mills, Connie Simms (Kent, deceased), Billie Jean Powell (Shawn, deceased), and Bret Mills (Anita).

He lived his life working very hard for his family, fabricating and loved to do metalwork and welding. He was awarded the Governors Craftsman of the Year Award in 1981. He worked for the local coal mines and was part owner in H.& J. Supply Company for a few years. He taught welding at C.E.U. for 2 years and had many, many other accomplishments. He did many jobs designing and fabricating from iron and other metals.

Richard loved to share his life experiences with his children and grandchildren as well as new and old friends. His entire life was based on service for others.

Survived by his children, Terrie Mills, Connie Simms, Billie Jean Powell and Bret (Anita) Mills; 16 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren with one more on the way; two nephews and one niece; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris; two grandsons, Jeffery Wayne Powell and Buddy Ray Mills; two sons-in-law, Kent Simms and Shawn Powell; his parents; nine brothers and three sisters; his in-laws and multiple nieces and nephews.

Funeral service, Thursday, March 18, 2021, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service.  Interment, Cliffview Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome and may share memories online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
