The Pinnacle track and field squad were on the road Saturday to compete in the Milford Invitational. The Panthers ended the meet in ninth place out of 12 teams from the 1A, 2A and even 3A classifications. Kanab claimed the top spot with North Sevier, Milard, Beaver and Bryce Valley rounding out the top five.
This was the third meet for the team this season. Back in March they took part in the Red Rocks Invitational in Moab with the boys team taking the seventh spot and the girls landing in ninth, and the following week they were in Price at the Farm Bureau Invitational. In that meet the boys team took 15th out of 17 teams.
Landen Hardy and Christian Winder would place well for the Panther boys team with Hardy taking third in the 400 meter with a time of 54.89, he also claimed the tenth spot in the high jump. Winder would go on to place third in the shot put and also fifth in the javelin. Stetson Motte grabbed fourth in the javelin and Michael Schmitz finished in seventh in the high jump.
Madison Sasser competed on the girl’s side finishing 12th in the 800 meter.
The Panthers are just getting going this season as they still have seven meets on the schedule until they get to the region meet on May 13 and will follow up the next week with the state meet in Provo.
Next up is the Uintah Invitational in Vernal this Saturday, April 17.
