The Utah Support Advocates for Recovery Awareness (USARA) is an organization that helps those in recovery from drugs and alcohol. They are now offering some great support groups in person at their new location and Peer Recovery Coach, Mersades Morgan took time to come into Castle Country Radio to discuss what is new.

“USARA is actually an acronym for Utah Support Advocates for Recovery Awareness and we have a local recovery community organization on Main Street and what we offer is mutual aid support groups, as well as one-on-one recovery coaching to individuals that are seeking support in breaking down barriers and also sustaining long term recovery,” said Morgan. The organization is open to anyone that is need of their services.

Because of the COVID pandemic, support meetings were being offered online. Now that the organization has moved into a more spacious building they can now offer in-person meetings while practicing social distancing. “We have moved to in-person meetings as of last week so we will hold most of our meetings in person with a virtual option for those that are taking extra precautions or maybe don’t have transportation or are more in a rural location. So we’re really trying to accommodate to every person, just like you said, it does have to be individualized because no one’s recovery is going to look the same,” explained Morgan. The different support gatherings being offered are sure to fit anyone’s schedule.

USARA is offering a new support group on Fridays and they are so excited for individuals to participate. “We actually are now offering Recovery Yoga on Friday mornings so that is an awesome holistic recovery pathway that we are supporting. We do still have Coffee & Recovery twice a week Tuesday and Thursday morning, and we over a 12-step New Comer Meeting on Wednesday, and a Wellness Check Friday for people going into the weekend just to get that extra support. So we have a lot of different pathways to support individualized recovery,” stated Morgan.
