The Price City Library is gearing up for another fun summer full of many activities that students can participate in. Library Coordinator, Tonya Kulow was able to speak with Castle Country Radio about all the details.
“Right now, we are doing a lot of our programming for the summer. We also have, of course, our online services that we offer Overdrive. We also have our computers still set up and they are more than welcomed to come in and enjoy our view with our new windows on Main Street to do some office work or just enjoy the quiet of the library,” said Kulow. There had been some restrictions set in place due to the COVID pandemic but those have now been lifted and now the library is opened regular hours. The library hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
The new ADA ramp has been completed and is fully functional to the downstairs area of the library. “We’ve had some moms with strollers that go down there, they just push our little doorbell and we let them in. The kids have loved being able to get in that way. Its been great to do some of our programming outside and so we can leave from that door, go up the ramp, out into the Peace Gardens. It’s been very, very nice,” said Kulow. The ADA ramp was made possible through a grant the library obtained.
This year’s summer program theme is Tails & Tales which will feature activities that have to do with animals and fairy tales. This theme is what all libraries across the nation will use for their summer programs as well. This 7-week summer program is taking the place of regular storytime hour. “We have three separate groups of programming going on. We have the Toddler Time and that’s usually on Monday and Wednesday. We also have five- to seven-year-olds and they meet every other week. Then we have an older group fourth to eighth grade and they do an activity every week,” explained Kulow. At the end of the program, the library hosts an end-of-summer party for all participants.
