Professional rodeo makes a return to Price this weekend for the first time in six years as the Silver Creek Rodeo Company presents the Price City Rodeo Round-up at the Carbon County Fairgrounds Friday and Saturday nights.
It was 2015 the last time pro rodeo was in Carbon County and Silver Creek Rodeo Company owner Randy Schmutz would like to be able to make this the first of many.
“We are working on making this an annual event. We feel real confident that we can sustain this event this year and then moving forward grow it into what we believe could be an outstanding rodeo venue for not only contestants but for the folks in the area here.”
Over 221 total contestants from 21 different states will be in town to put the Silver Creek stock to the test. Some of the names may be familiar to those that follow professional rodeo. Names like Alan Boore, National finalist in bronc riding will take to the arena Friday night. Creek Young, currently ranked No. 13 in the world in bull riding, looking to qualify for his first National Finals Rodeo (NFR).
Local talent Rhen Richard from Roosevelt all-around champion will be in town in team roping and tie-down roping.
The event will also include 23 contestants in the bull riding events over the two evenings.
The Price City Pro Rodeo Round-up will begin Friday and Saturday evening at 7:30, gates will open at six. Ticket prices are $20 for adults, $10 for children 8-12 and kids under 7 are free. Tickets are available at the door or go to the Price City Pro Rodeo Round-up page on Facebook.
