The Dino cross country team traveled to Nephi for the Juab Cross Country Invitational. Four meets into the season and the  Dinos had been looking for a top finish on the leader board. Juab was their coming out party, taking the top three spots and four top ten finishers for the boys. Carbon claimed the top spot with 31 points well ahead of second place Manti’s 68.

With Carbon and Manti in the top two spots, Canyon View, Salem Hills and Provo rounded out the top five on the boys side out of 10 teams.

Carbon’s Kobe Cruz finished first overall with a time of 16:12.6. Easton Humes was close behind in second turning in a time of 16:56.7 and Pierce Bryner took third with 16:57.5. Braxton Ware finished in seventh giving the Dinos four of the top ten spots.

On the girls side, Ambree Jones finished in ninth, just over one minute off the pace of Provo’s Annie McCoard who turned in a first place time of 19:48. Sophia Taylor ended the day in 17th, while Mariah George and Lindsie Fausett both finished in the top 30.

Salem Hills earned the first place finish for the ladies, followed by Canyon View, Provo, Manti and Carbon.

Carbon has a couple more meets on the schedule that will take them away from the area before they host the Carbon Invitational on Sept. 22.
