The Pirate baseball team has been struggling recently, with their last win coming on August 10. Sitting at 1-14 and the No. 15 spot in the RPI, coming off a loss last week to Diamond Ranch, they traveled to Orderville to face the Valley Buffalos on Wednesday. Valley jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead in the third and never looked back taking the 13-2 win in five innings.

The Pirates knew this season was going to be tough fielding only enough players for a varsity team meant that for the most part every player would play every game.

Green River put their two runs up with two outs to go in the fourth in back-to-back at bats. Cristian Venzor singled to right bringing home Jordan Anderson and then next batter up Antonio Macias sent another one to right field to bring home Jarrett Guerrera.

Offensively, Guerrera, Venzor, Macias and Hoyt Hunt all registered hits with Venzor and Macias adding an RBI each. Anderson and Guerrera both scored one run as well.

On the mound, the Pirates used four pitchers in the game. Venzor got the start going two innings giving up four hits and four runs. Anderson came in giving up six runs (one earned) in 1/3 of an inning. Guerrera went 2 2/3, giving up three hits, three runs (one earned) and struck out three.  Jo Vollmer came in and finished out the game.

The Pirates will need to put this one behind them as they will head back to the field against Bryce Valley Friday at home, first pitch is set for 3 p.m..
