Pinnacle baseball was on the road in Hurricane to take on the Diamond Ranch Academy Diamondbacks on Wednesday afternoon. Pinnacle has had some success recently winning three of their last five contests, however in the game with the Diamondbacks, Pinnacle would rally in the fifth but not enough to over take the lead and lost 19-6.

The Panthers have logged wins against Tintic, Green River and Telos in the last couple weeks, bringing them up to No. 13 in the most recent RPI with just four games left on the regular season schedule. And it doesn’t get any easier with the Piute Thunderbirds, the No.1 team in 1A coming to Carlson-Colosimo Field on Friday for a visit.

Piute is a perfect 16-0 this year, and will be looking for the season sweep. Pinnacle has hooked up with them twice already, at a tournament in August the Thunderbirds defeated the Panthers 17-6.  They would meet again on August 25 in Junction and Piute would take the victory in that contest 11-1.

Next week the Panthers welcome No. 8 Altamont and then travel to No.6 Bryce Valley, before the regular season comes to an end in Price when they welcome No. 5 Valley.

The game with Altamont begins at 4:00 on Monday.
