The Pinnacle Panthers girls basketball team started off their 2021-2022 season on the right foot on the road at American Preparatory Academy in West Valley on Tuesday night. Coming off a 4-12 season last year, the Lady Panthers collected a 22-20 win.
Last year, Pinnacle’s season ended at the hands of Wayne in the opening round of the 1A State Championships. Wayne would eventually make it to the semi-finals where they were beaten by State Champion Piute. Led this season by three seniors: Kemery Stuckenschneider, Alana Lunelli and Jeanae Hunter the Panthers are looking to make a turn around from last season.
The contest with American Prep was really anybody’s game as it went back and forth for all four quarters. Pinnacle took a three point lead into halftime and came back out in the second half allowing their opponent to score just five points in each of the final two quarters.
The Panthers will be back on the road on Friday to face Rockwell, a team from Eagle Mountain who finished last season 17-7 and met up with Pinnacle last season on February 12, winning the contest 68-40 in Price.
The first chance to see the Panthers at home will be on December 3 when they will welcome defending 1A State Champions Piute to Price. Game time is set for 5:30
