It’s that time of year for folks to assist with the Angel Tree Program as the deadline to apply was on November 17. Director, Megan Cummings stopped by Castle County Radio to discuss the details on how residents can help make Christmas special for children in the local area.
“It’s a great opportunity for low-income families to apply for Christmas gifts for their children and we’ve got so many businesses and individuals around the community who step up and say, give us some of those names, sizes, and wish lists. You know these are places like Eastern Utah Community Credit Union, and the Clampers, and Kiwanis, and the Children’s Justice Center and on, on, on. These are folks who say, we want to help,” stated Cummings. This program assists those less fortunate in our area and it would not be made possible without assistance from community members, businesses and organizations.
“Now if there are folks who still want to help, you know if you want to adopt some angels, definitely you can visit those Eastern Utah Community Credit Union and so on, but also call me and I’ll help you if you want to donate some cash for gifts, if you want to actually purchase gifts for kids, I’ll help you, I promise,” stated Cummings. Individuals are more than welcome to stop by the United Way office located at 185 East Main Street inside Price City Hall to adopt an angel or to make a donation.
“We know that nobody asks to be born in intergenerational poverty, if there is something we can do to help brighten a child’s day, holiday season, and also connect their family with budgeting resources, and resources on maybe how to get a better paying job or whatever the case may be. United Way isn’t just about a band-aid or here’s a toy at Christmas but also how can we connect families and people in need to resources to change the situation,” said Cummings. United Way prides itself in helping families become financially independent by sharing the resources that our available in our area.
