Price City Council Person Terry Willis attended her last city council meeting this month and Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with her to talk about her service to the city over the years she was in office.

“Well, my vision of Price and what will help it to continue to grow is focusing on quality of life. A lot of people say well it’s economic development but you know I think quality of life is much higher priority because if we’re wanting to attract businesses and economic development in to our area people have to have a reason to want to live here,” stated Willis. This means enticing our youth to stay here, keep locals here and attracting people to the area.

A project that Willis helped with was the new Pump Park. “Also was instrumental in getting a piece of land that had been an old BMX track that had falling in disrepair and was actually very unsafe and turning that into a Pump Park. On the table still is expanding the Pump Park and I have also reached out and said that I would be available to help get that project finished, adding a few more jump lines and fun things like that,” explained Willis. This has been a project near and dear to her heart and was glad to see it all come together the way it did.  It’s been nice to see the community out enjoying the new facility.

Another project that Willis assisted with was the Wayfinding Signs. “So, Amy and I, and Greg Dart from USU Eastern, and Bret Cammans worked on coming up with the Wayfinding Signs that you see around. I think that we still need to expand those a little bit more, there’s a few more that can be put up but that was quite a project to do and do it well in making sure we were directing people to the places that people from out of the area and even the locals needed to know where they were,” stated Willis. This was a great project to get up and running in the city, plus it was a great partnership with USU Eastern.

Now that Willis has free time on her hand, she plans on doing some traveling. “I’m very outdoorsy so I’m looking for some major adventure this summer, I haven’t quite figured it out. When I turned 60, I did a 6-day, 60-mile solo canoe trip, so it’s got to be as epic as that. So it may be a backpacking trip somewhere by myself, I’ll probably take the dog this time,” stated Willis. She plans on reaching out to the service organizations that she helped with in the past and is looking forward to reconnecting with those agencies.

If you see Willis around town, please thank her for her years of service on the Price City Council.
