The Southeast Utah Health Department is gearing up for a big move into their new location of the old Seventh District Courthouse building. Castle Country Radio sat down with Director, Brady Bradford to discuss all the details.
“The old Seventh District Courthouse and the old Sheriff’s detective building, we call it our new Health Department Campus, so to speak, because we will have both of those buildings. About 21,000 square feet, not quite twice as big as what we’ve got but we have just been bursting at the seams in our current building. We look to continue to expand, there’s still some job opportunities at the health department out there. We just knew that our current situation was not a good long-term fit,” explained Bradford. This will allow for the department to have more space for their employees and to better serve the community.
Client privacy is a very important factor for the health department so the new location will be able to provide just that. “Whether it’s getting shot or going to a WIC appointment or whatever you might be doing we’re going to be able to be a lot more private, more private client space. Additionally, we’ll be able to run full size vaccination clinic or drive-thru clinics out of this building, where we did not have that option. One of the major concerns we’ve always had is entering our building its like crossing the Grand Canyon, a giant gutter there, it’s an agriculture gutter, ices up in the winter so the client access to the building is just going to be really, really enhanced,” stated Bradford. The new location will also provide ample parking for both employees and clients.
The health department will be making the big move after the first of the year which means there will be no access to their offices on January 4 and 5. “So we anticipate a lot of the change over to happen the first week in January and though there will be some kinks to work out for a little while we think we will be fully up and running that second week in January, the second Monday,” said Bradford. The health department appreciates the community’s patience while they make their move to the new location.
