Madison Orth led the way for the Dinos on Friday night in Price as the Lady Dinos welcomed in the Canyon View Falcons for the first time as a region opponent. Orth scored 15 and grabbed two rebounds in Carbon 47-28 win.

Canyon View is a new school to 3A out of Cedar City. Last year they resided in the 4A ranks and they dropped down a class this year to compete in the lower classification. They sit at No. 11 in the RPI with a 6-7 record.

In the first quarter, the Dinos jumped out to a 14-3 lead and then just kept pouring it on taking a 28-11 lead into the locker room.  Canyon View came out in the third outscoring the Dinos 9-8, and then the Dinos took back control in the fourth coming up with the 19 point win.

Amiah Timothy came up with seven points in the contest for the Dinos, while Molly Banks and Janzie Jensen both added six points each with Jensen pulling down six boards and Banks two.

The Dinos are sitting in the No. 8 spot in the UHSAA RPI rankings and hold a 10-4 record overall and a 1-0 mark in Region 12 play.

Carbon has six games left on the schedule five of which are region games. With Grand opting to become independent that left Region 12 only four teams and that translates to only six region games for everyone.

Up next for the Dinos is a Thursday night match-up with No. 2 the Richfield Wildcats. The Wildcats are coming off a 58-45 win over Delta last Friday night.

Tip-0ff is set for 7 p.m. at Carbon High School.
