
Fresh off a win over Corner Canyon on Tuesday, the Lady Spartans got back to the business of Region 12 play Friday evening when they welcomed the Canyon View Falcons to the Spartan Center. Emery collected their first conference win with the 59-23 victory in front of the home town crowd.
The Lady Spartans have now put two in a row together since the loss to Richfield on January 6. Emery has five games remaining on their slate including one non-region game against Real Salt Lake Academy.
Emery was in control of this game from the start coming out and scoring 17 points in the first quarter while allowing Canyon View just two. The Spartans went into the locker room taking a 26-6 lead at the half.
In the second half it was more of the same as Emery would once again outscore the Falcons 18-2. Calling the dogs off in quarter number four the two teams played even both scoring 15.
Tambrie Tuttle led the Spartans with 16 points and six rebounds, Tuttle continues her great season for Emery averaging 11.9 points per game. She also pulled down six rebounds.
Baylee Jacobson scored 14 with five boards and three assists. Aliya Lester had eight and Brynn Gordon pulled down nine rebounds.
The Spartans now own a 12-4 record and hold the No. 4 spot in the RPI.
Up next for the Spartans is the game that gets circled every time the schedule comes out, Carbon at the Spartan Center.
Thursday night will be the first meeting between the two teams this season and Carbon will come in with a 10-5 record and sit in the No. 9 position in the UHSAA RPI.
