
The Utah High School Activities Association put out their final RPI rankings for 3A girls basketball. They also released the bracket for the State Championships. Both Carbon and Emery will receive first round byes for being ranked in the top 12.
The RPI is a mathematical equation that ranks teams by the strength of their schedule and is based on three different parameters: the teams winning percentage , their opponents winning percentage and their opponents opponents winning percentage. The equation gives each team a percentage and then those numbers are used to rank each team throughout the season.
Emery finished the season at 16-5 and ended the regular season in the No.4 spot, dropping back one after their loss last Thursday at Carbon. In the opening game of the tournament they will welcome in the winner of the 13 and 20 match-up between Delta and Ben Lomond on Friday in the Spartan Center at 7. This game will be available on KOAL 107.3 FM or 750 AM and can be streamed at castlecountry radio.com.
Carbon ended at 12-8 and are in the No. 8 spot. Their first game will also be played Friday in Price at 7, as they will face No. 9 Manti. You can listen to the Dinos on KRPX 95.3 The Peak, you can also stream the game live at castlecountryradio.com.
If both teams win their opening round games, they will advance to the final rounds at Weber State University in Ogden, that leg of the tournament will take place Feb.24-26
