The final RPI for the 1A girls will be released on Monday as will the bracket for the State Championships, which will begin on February 26. The season which began back in November and is slowly starting to come to a close.

The RPI is a mathematical equation that ranks teams by the strength of their schedule and is based on three different parameters: the teams winning percentage , their opponents winning percentage and their opponents opponents winning percentage.  The equation gives each team a percentage and then those numbers are used to rank each team throughout the season. Now that the RPI has been removed from view, we wait until the final release, to find out who will play who.

Piute, at 18-1, holds the No.1 spot in 1A followed by Tabiona, Panguitch, Monument Valley and Wayne.

Green River enters the ranks at No. 18., coming off a win last night over Pinnacle 36-25. The win comes after a three game stretch that included a loss to Escalante, another win over Pinnacle and a loss to Monticello. Green River ends the season 4-15 and 3-5 in region play.

Pinnacle sits in the No. 20. The Panthers ended the season losing their last four including two to Green River, Tintic and Whitehorse. They end the season at 4-18 overall and 0-8 in region.

The playoffs start next Saturday with the opening rounds taking place at home sites.

Beginning with the second round, all games will take place at the Sevier Valley Center on the Richfield campus of Snow College.
