After a hard-fought battle with her health, we are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, aunt and friend, Kerry Elizabeth Montoya.

Kerry was born in Mount Pleasant, Utah on April 26th, 1981. She grew up in Helper, Utah surrounded by family and friends. Kerry was a wild child who absolutely loved the outdoors! She was never afraid to get down and dirty with the boys but she was always sure to look pretty doing it! She loved watching her mom do hair and work in her home salon but she also enjoyed camping and hunting with her dad (who often thought she was more like a son than a daughter).

In 2003, she caught the eye of her future husband, Dustin, while hanging out with friends. They both got a little hungry, so they left to go get nachos. Little did they know, that trip to the gas station (and Kerry feeding Dustin nachos) would turn into 19 years together, married with 5 kids.

In 2015, she drew the tag of a lifetime, a San Juan bull elk hunt. Kerry was a real hunter and she was so excited to get this opportunity! On the second day, she killed the #5 bull in Utah with a single shot from her muzzleloader, at only 18 yards! Kerry and her bull named “Earl” appeared in several magazines over the years: Eastmans, Trophy Hunter, Boone & Crockett and Muley Crazy.

Kerry loved all kinds of music; everything from country to rap and every genre in between. She loved singing karaoke and getting up on stage to dance at every chance she got. She also enjoyed making TikToks and taking silly Snaps with her kids. She had the best sense of humor and an even better laugh. She was compassionate and kind and she loved her family with everything she had.

She shared a special bond with each and every one of her kids. She loved to hunt for deer and elk with Dominik from the time he was a baby until she watched him shoot his very first buck. She was best friends with Angelina, who never left her side. She loved spending time with DJ at Huntington Lake; dancing and making TikToks with Avaiah; and listening to music and shopping with Arionah.

Kerry will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. She was definitely one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed! Her loving memory will be carried on by her husband Dustin Montoya; children Dominik, Angelina, DJ, Avaiah and Arionah; parents Gary and Tammy Jensen; siblings Gary Dean Jensen, Connie Beavers and Sarah Sanchez; puppies Zoey and Boss; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

At her request, the family will host a small celebration of life at Huntington Lake surrounded by the water and the mountains that Kerry loved so much. The celebration will begin on Saturday, February 26th at 10am “Kerry Time” (aka noon) and go until the time feels right. Close family and friends are invited to join us in sharing a few laughs, enjoying some good food and remembering the beautiful life that Kerry left behind. She always said that hugs were healing, and I know we could all use one right now!
