It’s time to start preparing for the upcoming Fall Semester 2022 and Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Director of Student Life, Kevin Hurst to speak about all the details regarding registration and scholarships.

If you are planning on attending USU Eastern and interested in a Leadership Scholarship the deadline is quickly approaching. “So I’d love to talk about one great opportunity for students is our Leadership opportunities and Student Leadership Scholarships. We have excellent teams. The application process is currently open and our deadline is March 4. So anybody thinking I want to go to USU Eastern and want a scholarship to be on a leadership team, March 4 is your deadline to get your application in,” stated Hurst. The Eastern Utah Student Association (EUSA) is a student-run group, which serves the voice of students at USU Eastern, advocating for their needs and rights. EUSA is an organization for the entire student body, acting as the liaison with university staff, faculty, and administration.

There are several different types of scholarships available at USU Eastern. “So for our academic scholarships that’s all based on your application. So when you submit your application we’ll need your high school GPA and your transcript, and if you have taken test scores, then please submit your text scores. You can automatically get an academic scholarship based on those merit performances. We’ve simplified the scholarship process because who wants to apply for 100 scholarships. It’s one application to be considered for all the scholarships that we have available,” explained Hurst. USU Eastern has partnered with ScholarshipUniverse to assist students in applying for scholarships. The USU Eastern General Scholarship Application is a ‘matching’ system that will match students with institutional and private scholarships.

Not only will potential students need to apply for scholarships but it’s important for them to apply for Federal Student Aid (FSA). “Now would be a great time to complete your FSA see what you have available through grants and dollars to help pay for school. There’s a lot of great, great options to cover the educational costs,” stated Hurst. Students can go into the one stop Student Support Services Center to receive assistance with the FSA application process.

“If you’re interested in jumping into school, lets get that application. We’re being very accommodating for anybody wanting to meet with an advising team or if you can’t make it on campus, we would obviously would love to host you on campus, we love to showcase our campus. But we can also connect with you virtually, we’ve learned a lot through COVID and so we could do an advising appointment via Zoom or virtually if that’s more conducive to your schedule or more convenient and you can set those things up through the one stop,” said Hurst.
