Keaton Rich’s triple in the first inning got things going for the Dinos as they put up seven runs against the Juab Wasps on Wednesday in Price. The Wasps would get to with in four at one point but that was as close as Juab would get and the Dinos walked away with a 16-6 win in five innings.

Rich went 3-4 and Chet Anderson 3-3 as the Dinos took on Juab, a team that the Deseret News had named as the No.1 team in 3A.  The Dinos forced the Wasps to use four different pitchers as they collected 11 hits and frustrated Juab into committing seven errors.

In the first inning after Rylan Hart scored on the Rich triple, he came home on an error by the catcher as Carbon would bat through the line-up in the inning. Maizen Prichard would cross the plate after a double putting the seventh run on the board.

Juab played through the next couple of innings cautiously putting up a couple runs in the second and then would try to get something going in the fourth when Carbon pitcher Wyatt Falk started the inning by loading the bases giving up a double, a walk and a hit batsman. He would then work his way back surrendering four runs before getting out of the inning. Falk would go 3.2 innings giving up six runs (four earned) on four hits and struck out four. Jordan Fossat went 1.1 surrendering two hits and struck out one.

In the bottom of the fifth, Juab would throw their fourth pitcher at the Dinos, who would enter and give up a double to Rich, back-to-back walks and then Anderson was hit by a pitch bringing home a run. In the next at bat Colton Lowe would single on a fly ball to center allowing Fossat to score and ending the game for the Dinos.

Carbon now sits at 4-5 and will take the weekend to prepare for region play which will begin on Mar. 29 with a double header against Grand at home. They will then follow-up with a road game in Moab on Friday, this will be the region format this year, they will play each region foe three times, the first time in a double header and then they will play one game on the other teams home field.
