carbon-6

On Mar. 23 of this season, the Carbon Dinos and the Juab Wasps faced each other in a non-region game, a game in which the Carbon Dinos dominated 16-6. This morning played host to the rematch that did not disappoint.

The Carbon Dinos entered the quarterfinal matchup after an exciting walk-off win over the Grantsville Cowboys last week. Juab entered the game on a 16-game win streak, their last loss coming in that Mar. 23 game.

Jordan Fossat started the game on the mound for the Dinos and held the Wasps at bay through four scoreless innings. Through four, Fossat had allowed just one hit. With the help of the defense, Carbon threw out four Wasp base runners in the early innings to stop Juab from building momentum.

Offensively for the Dinos, Carbon tried to get things going early, but left six runners in scoring position to keep things knotted at 0-0 through four.
In the bottom of the fifth, Juab opened things up with a solo home run and an RBI double to take a late 2-0 lead. Wyatt Falk replaced Fossat in the fifth to record the final out of the inning.

Carbon immediately answered in the top of the sixth with six straight singles and six runs to take a commanding 6-2 lead.
Wyatt Falk would slow down the Wasps for the sixth. He did, however, allow two more runs to score to cut Carbon’s lead to two, 6-4. Falk would shut down the Wasps in the seventh to seal the upset and advance the Dinos to the semi-final round.

Carbon will take on Juan Diego tomorrow at 4:30 pm for a chance to earn a spot in the championship round. You can find the call on KOAL 107.3 FM and 750 AM.
