Our beloved husband, father and brother, Gary Wayne Marx, 71, passed away May 15, 2022, at his home in Price, Utah
Gary was born June 21, 1950 in Price, UT to Kenneth LeRoy Marx and Cherrill Olsen Marx.
Gary volunteered for the draft in the Army in 1968. He fought in the Vietnam War. He survived stepping on a land mind and malaria. He served for two years and then honorably discharged.
Gary married the love of his life Jody Ana Cook on December 18, 1976. The two were each other’s lifelong companions and friends. They were blessed with four children Betty Chanel, Kenneth Wayne, Stephanie Kolynn, and Traci Ana.
Gary worked as a coal miner at the Kaiser, Plateau, and Willow Creek Mines. He served on the mine rescue team. He was a dedicated member of the BACA and ABATE biker groups. He also coached little league baseball for years. He loved being there and helping all the kids. He got along with kids better than adults. The kids in the neighborhood would come over and ask if the kids could play and if mom said no, they would ask if Gary could play.
You could find Gary working on his El Camino for car shows, doing yard work, or tinkering on something outside. If you could not find him outside, he was playing online poker or watching a game on the TV. Gary was a dedicated Utah Jazz fan. There was not a game he did not watch. He loved his children and the grandchildren. Gary would try his hardest to get his grand babies to say, “I love Gramps”. He loved to spend time with this family. His newest adventure was camping.
Gary was very close to his Aunt Laraine Jarvie and Granny Olsen before they passed. He talked very highly of the experiences he had with them during his childhood.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Leroy Marx; mother, Cherrill Olsen Marx; daughter, Kolynn Marx Heath; in-laws, Mervin and Betty Cook.
Our loss here on earth is surpassed by the great reunion he is having in Heaven.
Gary is survived by his wife, Jody Ana; children, Betty Chanel Nelson (Helper); Kenneth Wayne (Ashley) Marx (Roosevelt); Marcus Heath (son in-law Farr West); Traci Ana Bush (Santaquin); grandchildren, Kennedy Jane (Shaun) Mooney, Sadie Lee Nelson, Gracee Wayne (Dezmon) McCourt, Lincoln Jakob Watters, Lexie Margene Watters, Jaxie Dawn Marx, Cicilee Anna Marx and great grandchildren, Triton Marcus Mooney, Ehly Wayne Mooney, Gwendlynn Lou McCourt, Oaklyn Dawn McCourt, sister, Lorna (Brent) Jensen (Elmo) and many nieces and nephews; including his favorite niece, Carli Jensen O’neil.
