As the 2021-2022 school year comes to a close, Carbon High School sent three individuals and two doubles teams to the 3A State Tournament to Liberty Park, in Salt Lake. Derrick Jorgensen, Braden Scovill, and Cameron Jones played in the singles tournaments while Zac Gregersen and Alex Callahan, and Nathan Bauduin and Garrett Bryner represented the Dinos in the double’s tournament.

Senior Derrick Jorgensen played as the No 14 seed in the 1st singles tournament and unfortunately saw his season end against No. 3 seed Jaiden Handlon of Rowland Hall. Jorgensen fell 0-6, 0-6.

Senior Branden Scovill participated in the 2nd singles tournament as the No. 13 seed and squared off against No. 4 seed Quinn Belknap from Juab High School. Scovill struggled to keep pace with Belknap and fell 2-6, 0-6.

Sophomore Cameron Jones took to the court as the No. 15 seed to face the No. 2 seed Andrew Murphy, from Rowland Hall, in the 3rd singles tournament. Jones battled but ultimately fell 1-6, 2-6 to end his season.

Sophomore Zac Gregersen and Senior Alex Callahan represented Carbon in the 1st doubles tournament as the No. 10 seed. They faced the No. 7 seed Jacob Cox and Joshua Cox, from North Sanpete and fell 4-6, 5-7 in a tightly contested match.

Seniors Nathan Bauduin and Garrett Bryner were the second doubles team in the tournament and were given the No. 9 seed in the 2nd doubles tournament. They were given the task of facing the No. 8 seed Andrew Fee and Brock Maxfield of American Heritage. Bauduin and Bryner fought hard but eventually fell 4-6, 4-6.
