Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Mayor Lenise Peterman to talk about the happenings taking place in Helper. She came in to discuss the entry way pillar project and the upcoming Arts, Music & Film Festival.

“I’m super excited to have been awarded funding to get these, well they’re really entry way pillars into Helper City, which is just really to signify to people, perhaps driving by, that may be pulling in, and stopping is a great idea. Danny Blanton from Original Creations was instrumental in the design and it very much echoes the look and feel of our Main Street and we’re hoping to see these go in in the next few weeks,” explained Mayor Peterman. The pillars will be 12-foot structures that will highlight the area at various entrances in to town.

“So one will be going in close to the Pick & Rail exit, we worked with UDOT, they’ve been amazing and awesome to work with, so one will be in that area. The other one will actually be in the outdoor mining park exhibit areas. So as people turn down Popular that will be an eye-catching monument about Helper,” stated Mayor Peterman. The pillars will coincide with the area’s landscape, as well as the décor of Helper’s Main Street.

The date has been set and the annual Helper Arts, Music and Film Festival will be held in August. “So we will kick things off Thursday, August 18 with a gallery stroll. We have a jazz band who will be playing on Main Street and there will actually be a music event also at the Rio that patrons can enjoy. The 19th, Friday, August 19 you’ll begin to see vendors trickle in, set up, with the objective to be ready Friday afternoon and running till Sunday till about noon,” said Mayor Peterman. Guests will see that this year there will be multiple venues where the music will be performed at this year.
