Carbon County will once again play host to the Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth Pacific Southwest Regional baseball tournaments, set for July 25 through July 30.

Playing host to both the Cal Ripken 8-year-old and Babe Ruth 13-year-old divisions, the week of baseball will bring in a total of 18 teams. The Cal Ripken division will take place at the Toy Atwood Baseball Complex, while the Babe Ruth division will use both Carbon High School fields.

“For the last five years we’ve had the pleasure of hosting many people who fly into our tournaments,” said Southern Utah Commissioner Jill Emerson. “As long as the community continues to help and embrace the tournaments, we’ll try to keep bringing them in.”

The eight-year-old division will feature one team from Carbon and another from Emery. Roosevelt will be the third team from Utah to participate in the tournament. Three California teams and one Arizona team will complete the field of eight.

Pool play for the 8-year-old division will begin on Monday, July 25 and continue through Wednesday, July 27. The top four seeds will then enter a single elimination tournament that will run from July 28 through July 30.

The 13-year-old division will feature three teams from Carbon County as a total of 10 compete throughout the week. Teams from Hawaii, Central California, Southern California, Northern Utah and Nevada will complete the field.

Set in true double-elimination format, the 13-year-old tournament will begin July 25 through July 30. The winner of this bracket will advance to the World Series in Missouri.

A welcome barbeque will be held for all attending players and families on Sunday, July 24 at the Carbon Event center. There will also be a player skills competition at the fairgrounds filed.

“I have to thank all the players, coaches and community for the help in putting this event together,” said Emerson. “Some teams could be here the whole week; some could be gone the second day. So, I hope we see everyone bring their A game and we have a great time.”

All games will offer free attendance for spectators. You can view the complete tournament brackets for both divisions HERE.
