It’s time once again to speak with Castle Dale City Mayor Danny Van Wagoner to discuss the upcoming Castle Dale City Days celebration. He was able to share all the details of the celebration that is set to kick-off on July 23 with a bike rodeo.
“Well, this Motorcycle Rodeo is just what you kind of imagine, it’s a motorcycle out in the rodeo grounds. They’re doing barrel races, they’re doing time trials, they’re doing wheelies how far they can take it. Its absolutely incredible to watch and it’s just a good time,” stated Mayor VanWagoner. The rodeo will take place at the rodeo grounds at 6:00 pm.
There will a break for a few days before events kick-off again on Wednesday, July 27. “Alright, July 27, this is probably by favorite event in Castle Dale, it’s called the Little Luau. It’s held up at the swimming pool, this is for special needs of all ages. I couldn’t tell you how many years this has been going on but its just very special and it’s a great time,” said Mayor VanWagoner. There will be dinner, games and music for individuals to enjoy while they do some swimming and visiting.
On Thursday, July 28 there will be several different activities for families to participate in. “We have kids games starting at 3:00 pm on Thursday and then 4:30 pm we have a barbeque for $2.00. We’ll be selling hot dogs and hamburgers, its just kind of a community event. Then from there we go to the kid’s rodeo at 6:00 pm. This is where they are chasing chicken and chasing pigs – we got the chicken and pigs already. Then we have a movie at the ballfield at dusk,” explained Mayor VanWagoner. Officials do not know what the movie will be but it will be family friendly.
It’s all about the cowboys and cowgirls as the Cowboys Memorial Rodeo starts on Friday, July 29. “The high school sponsors this rodeo and it is a fantastic rodeo. Like you say, it’s two nights, it’ll end up on Saturday but it’s a great time. If you like rodeo, you like cowboys, and you like to see people fall off animals, this is the place to be,” stated Mayor Van Wagoner. This is a traditional rodeo where guests will see all the traditional events take place.
Castle Dale City Celebration will end on Saturday, July 30 with several events taking place at the city park on Main Street. “That morning will start with horseshoe tournament, pickleball tournament, we’ve got cornhole tournament, sand volleyball tournament, and that all down at the city park where the rodeo grounds are,” said Mayor VanWagoner. Everyone of all ages in the Castle Country area are invited to attend the city’s celebration.
