
Turner Stoker paced the Emery Spartans with a team-low score of 87 in the Region 12 opening meet Wednesday afternoon at Cedar Ridge, the home course of the Canyon View Falcons, in Cedar City.
The Spartans finished the first meet locked in a third-place tie with the Grand Red Devils as both shot a 354. Richfield claimed first place with a 313, sneaking past Carbon’s score of 315. Canyon View finished in last with a 361.
Joey Leonard complimented Stoker with a solid 88 for the team’s second low score of the afternoon. Carter Huntington was third on the team with an 89. Both Dempsey Toomer and Kade Larsen tied for the team’s fourth score with a 90.
Carbon’s Bode Salas sits at the top of the individual leaderboard following the first meet as he shot a 71, edging out Grand’s Wyatt Toney.
Emery will now shift its focus to the second meet of the season, which will take place Monday at the Moab Golf Course. The Spartans will play host to one home meet this season on Thursday, Sept. 15.
