The Carbon Dino volleyball team played their final non-region match on Thursday when they traveled to Manti to face the Templars. Going five grueling sets the Templars and the Dinos fought back and forth but in the end it was Manti coming out on top 3-2.

Carbon had climbed up to the No. 2 spot in the RPI, putting together an overall record of 9-3 and 1-0 in region play, but the No.12  Templars paid no attention to the ranking and faced the Dinos head-on.

The Templars came out in set number one taking the victory 26-24. Sets two and three went to Carbon as they battled back 25-16 and 26-24. Manti would regain their composure and come back taking the final two sets 25-23 and 15-7.

The loss puts the Dinos at 9-4 overall and they also slipped back one spot to No.3 in the latest rankings that were released this morning. Region 12 is home to four of the top 15 teams in 3A , and for the remainder of Carbon’s schedule aside from the Sevier Valley Tournament, the Lady Dinos will play league games, making for an interesting end to the regular season.

Carbon will be welcoming No. 16 Grand to Price on Tuesday. This is the first meeting this season for the two squads. Last year Carbon swept the Red Devils 3-1 and 3-0.

And then Thursday the Dinos will travel to Castle Dale to face the Spartans.

Both games are set for 6:30.
