quick-easy-cooking

The USU Extension – Carbon County is hosting another Quick & Easy Cooking course on September 21 at 7:00 pm. With it being football season event organizers decided to showcase Tailgating Favorites with the community. Assistant Professor in Family and Consumer Sciences, Christine Pay stopped by Castle Country Radio to share all the details with listeners.

Due to technical difficulties organizers will be sharing the video format differently. “The format is a little bit different and we’ve changed how we’re going to be getting this out into the community. As far as how we’re going to get it out to everyone, you can come in person. You do need to register through https://www.eventbrite.com/ so that we know how many people are going to be there, so we have room. Then the next day we’re going to post a recording on YouTube. We had so many technical difficulties with our Facebook live last year that we had to change to a YouTube format,” explained Pay.  You can find the YouTube channel by looking up USU Extension Quick & Easy Cooking.

This month’s theme is Tailgating Favorites which will feature some game-day delicious appetizers. “We decided to showcase some recipes that you may already be familiar with, maybe some new ones but maybe different ways of cooking them. We’re going to be having meatballs, we’re going to be doing some guacamole dip made with green peas instead of avocado. We’re going to do some sliders, some pork sliders and then we’re also going to have some mozzarella sticks. So a whole bunch of different things, more like finger foods,” stated Pay. The items will be cooked using different methods like a pressure cooker, slow cooker or air fryer.

Another concept that the course is going to offer is instead of a guest chef they will allow members from the audience assist with the cooking. “They’re all going to taste delicious. They’re all going to be easy to make and you’re going to see that anybody and everybody can make these. We’ve kind of switched the format again, that instead of having a guest chef, we’re going to pull people up from our studio audience to come and help cook and prepare the food. We’re just going to have some games and fun. Again, we’ve partnered with Castleview Hospital and the C.A.R.E. Coalition who will provide some really good prevention tips for youth,” said Pay. This event is sure to have participants cooking with confidence.

The event will take place at the USU Extension Classroom at 751 East 100 North, Suite 1700 at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 21. Any questions about the event call the USU Extension-Carbon County office at (435) 636-3233.
