The Ascension St Matthew’s Church annual Fall Fare will take place on Friday, October 7 from 4:00pm to 7:00 pm and Saturday, October 8 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. This community event will take place at the church which is located at 522 North Homestead Boulevard in Price.
The annual event will have a few changes this year as Event Representative, Pam Adams explains, “We’re doing things differently this year, there’s no silent auction this year, what we’re doing is donation gifts. You will buy a set of tickets for a $1.00 a piece and for that dollar you will receive any number of things.” The opportunity drawing prizes range from 65” flatscreen TV, $950.00 cash prizes, yogurt maker, air fryer, quilt and so much more. All of these items have been graciously donated by individuals and local businesses.
There will be delicious food items to purchase and enjoy at the event or you can choose take out if you are unable to stay. “We have our homemade soups, which are available both for take home and if you want to sit and have a bowl of soup, by all means do. Homemade baked goods of all different kinds and we have our canned garden goods, and oh my goodness including that wonderful apricot/raspberry jam that everyone raves about, and they will be for purchase,” stated Adams. All of the food and baked goods are prepared by the parishioners.
Because of COVID years this will be the first time the church’s gift shop has been opened in quite some time. “Ascension St Matthew’s Gift Shop which was started for our own people because shopping is a bit limited here in town is open to the public during the times when we have like the pancake supper and the Fall Fare. We couldn’t do it this year so this will be the first time it’s been open in almost two years to the public so we have lots and lots of really good things,” said Adams. Again, most of the items have been made by the parishioners and the store is run by volunteers. Items inside the shop include homemade items, Advent candles and wreaths, religious jewelry and Christmas crafts.
All the proceeds earned from the annual Fall Fare go towards the building fund and community outreach programs. If you would like to purchase opportunity drawing tickets for $1.00 you can do so from any member of the church, the day of the event or call the church at (435) 637-0106.
