Summary

The Spartans had put together an amazing drive in the closing minutes of the fourth, and with 17 seconds left in regulation, Stilson found Tregg Miller with a 9-yard pass that put Emery on top 21-14.

A three touchdown performance from junior quarterback Wade Stilson and an exciting finish on Friday night got the Spartans their fourth win of the season against Providence Hall in Herriman. Emery braved the cold and the Patriots on the way to a last second touchdown giving Emery the 21-14 win.

Providence Hall scored first in the contest on a 71 yard run from Robin Limutau with 10:09 in the first quarter, and that was just the beginnnig of the back-and forth battle between the Spartans and the Patriots.

Quarterback Wade Stilson continued to showcase his abilities going 28-of-45 for 220 yards with three touchdown passes. On the ground once again it was Dane Sitterud, who compiled 25 yards on 11 carries.

Like two prize fighters Emery and Providence Hall would exchange blows. With 2:49 left in the first quarter, Stilson would connect with Creek Sharp for a score, tying up the game at seven.

Limautau found the end zone once more for Patriots in the second quarter on a 2-yard run taking the 14-7 lead.

With a minute left until halftime, Stilson found Sharp once again, this time with a 46-yard shot to send the game to the half tied at 14.

For the majority of the second half the defenses were on display for both squads. No one could assert any dominance over the other playing at a very even keel. And with time running out it got interesting.

The Spartans had put together an amazing drive in the closing minutes of the fourth, and with 17 seconds left in regulation, Stilson found Tregg Miller with a 9-yard pass that put Emery on top 21-14.

Providence Hall had a chance, but a hit from Kelby Jones knocked the ball loose and Emery fell on it, hanging on to the 7 point win.

Sharp finished the game with 7 catches for 85 yards and two scores. Miller landed six catches for 31 and a score and Matt Olsen grabbed eight catches for 57 yards.
