The Carbon County Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for a busy month in October they are preparing for their Oct. 20 luncheon and their board meeting set for Nov. 3. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Executive Director, Barbie Haeck to talk about the upcoming events.

This month’s Chamber of Commerce luncheon is going to offer an opportunity to meet the candidates from the November ballot. Although the luncheon is full spectators are invited to attend to listen to the candidates. “Usually, we try to have a speaker but this month it’s meet the candidates. They’ll each be given five minutes to talk about what their platform is and why they’re the best candidate,” said Haeck. Those scheduled to attend are Commissioner Larry Jensen, his opponent Ed Chavez, Commissioner Tony Martines, his opponent Fuzzy Nance, and Sheriff Jeff Wood and his opponent, Zach Palacios. The meeting will take place at USU Eastern Jennifer Leavitt Student Center at 12:00 pm.

There will be a board meeting scheduled to take place on Nov. 3 and community members are welcomed to attend the monthly meetings. “Its Nov. 3 at 9:15 am in the County Building in the lower conference room. We talk about upcoming events that the Chamber has, we talk about community events, we talk about the Chamber advocate program, and we try to check in with each of the board members about what their business advocates are doing,” stated Haeck. This month’s meeting the Chamber will be deciding who will be on the 2023 Executive Board.

There are a couple of ribbon cutting ceremonies schedule to take place next week and the community is invited to attend these observances. “So Oct. 25 at 12:00 pm is the Rebel Radiance ribbon cutting and she’s in Helper. You can check our Facebook page for the address. On Oct. 26, that’s a Wednesday, also at noon, we’ll be doing a ribbon cutting for Ten Circles Wellness, which is not a new business but we haven’t done a ribbon cutting for her home-based business so we’re going to be doing it at her home,” explained Haeck.
