The Fourth Annual Green River Outlaw Days is taking place on Nov. 4 and Nov. 5 in Green River, Utah. There will be a slew of events and activities taking place over the span of two days. This is open to all ages and it’s fun family entertainment.  Castle Country Radio was able to speak over the telephone with City Events Coordinator, Robin Hunt to get all the details.

“The idea really came from, we have a lot of local outlaw history, so we just wanted to highlight some of that history, as well as, tie into that culture of Green River, which is kind of farmland, and farmer boys, a little more of a western feel. So we decided to do this event and kind of hone in on that local outlaw history and on the culture of the town,” stated Hunt. Guests can learn the history and hear stories about Flat Nose George Curry Wild Bunch and Gunplay Maxwell.

Events will kick off on Friday, Nov. 4 at 2:00 pm at the gun range in Green River located at 3525 East Old 6 and 50. This will be a “warm-up” of cowboy action stages and side matches. “Cowboy action shooting is a multi-faceted sport that basically has, you dress up as cowboys, you shoot cowboy action guns, which are revolver pistols, single action rifles, and double barrel shotguns. You shoot a stage, where you shoot specific targets in a specific order, as quickly as you can, well as accurately as you can as well,” explained Hunt. This is the perfect day to see the cowboys practice, ask any questions that you may have on the competition before the contest is held on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 10:00 am.

On Saturday there will be a heap of activities and events held for guests to enjoy. “So everything starts there at 10:00 am. So we have the cowboy action shoot that starts at 10:00 am, we also have a milk jug shoot which also starts at 10:00 am, at different parts of the Green River Gun Range. Then our vendors will be there and then later in the afternoon from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm we have our horseshoe tournament. So if you want to come kind of watch some of the shooting competition for a little bit, and then participate in the horseshoe tournament, that’s a lot of fun, $5.00 a team to participate in that,” said Hunt. There will be a Prime Rib Dinner and concert held at the Green River Senior Center. Tickets can be purchased online for $30.00.
