Emery High School has hired Chase Julian as its new baseball manager, it was announced by Principal Steve Gordon Friday afternoon.

Julian, a Carbon High School graduate, has held stints as an assistant boy’s basketball coach at Canyon View Middle School and Emery High School over the past two years. He is also currently an assistant coach for the Emery girls’ basketball team.

“The Emery sports programs have been great since I was in high school,” said Julian Tuesday on KOAL’s Drive Time Sports. “I love baseball. I played at Carbon and CEU and I have loved to coach it since that time. These kids over here, that I have gotten to know, are great kids and I cannot wait to coach them.”

After graduating from Carbon High School in 2006, Julian played baseball at the College of Eastern Utah in 2007. He later played basketball at Southern Utah University before returning to the Castle Country area.

Julian will be entering his first stint as a varsity head coach. The position opened following the departure of former manager Rob Smith, who accepted the same position at Carbon High School in October.

“The one thing that stood out to me is we have a lot of young talent and still some seniors that create a good combination,” said Julian. “Rob (Smith) did a good job building success and I’m hoping to just keep building off that moving forward.”

The next step for Julian will be to fill out his coaching staff ahead of off-season workouts, which are expected to begin in the next two weeks.
