When the final RPI rankings came out, the Lady Dino volleyball team found themselves locked into the No. 8 seed, and while that did earn them a first round bye, it also meant their first match of championship weekend, would be against defending champion Union. The weekend did not play out the way Carbon had hoped as they finished the two day playoffs with a record of 1-2.

Carbon finished the regular season at 15-10 overall and a 4-4 Region 12 record, that landed them in the No. 8 spot on the final RPI.

In the first match on Friday, they would face the Union Cougars, the No. 9 seed, but last season’s defending state champion. This was not the first time these two had met up this season. Back in August, the Dinos traveled to Roosevelt and lost 3-1.

The Cougars came out in the first set taking a 25-16 victory.  Carbon got closer in the next two 25-19 and 25-17 but would fall to Union 3-0 and the loss would drop them to the consolation bracket, where the best the Dinos could finish was sixth place.

In the second match on Friday, Carbon would face the Juab Wasps, No. 16 in the RPI. Carbon and Juab played in the very first game of the season with the Lady Dinos getting a 3-1 win. This time around Carbon would drop the first set 25-22. And after that the Dinos took over finishing off the Wasps in three straight sets, 25-13, 30-28 and 25-20.

The opening game for the Dinos on Saturday was against the Granstsville Cowboys, who earned the No.4 spot in the final RPI. These two teams met on back to back days at the Sevier Valley Tournament splitting the two meetings.

On Saturday, in the rubber match, Carbon earned a 25-18 win in the opening set, and even though the remaining sets were close (25-18, 25-22 and 25-22) winning the match 3-1 and bringing the Dinos season to a close.
