Alma Rae Procarione, our beloved and precious mother, grandmother, and friend peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father on November 3, 2022 at the age of 87.
She was born November 2, 1935, to William McKinley and Ida Richardson Bates in Helper, Utah where she spent her childhood alongside her brothers James William and Jack Bates. She attended Helper Jr. High and Carbon High School. Married her sweetheart Rudy Procarione on August 20, 1954 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they raised four children, opened a business and shared love and laughter with their many friends and family. Rudy and Rae were lifelong participants in the bowling league at Country Lanes and had many memories of the great time spent with friends.
Rae had a strong, unrelenting faith in her Savior Jesus Christ. She shared the gospel with everyone she met. She often said, “If I can be a good example of Christ’s love to just one person in my life, I will feel my life was complete.” As a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held many callings, including Relief Society President and Scouting, but her true love was her calling in genealogy. She thoroughly enjoyed her Mondays spent at the genealogy library and her temple trips.
She was always very active in civic duties, including chamber of commerce, March of Dimes and countless others. Alma Rae worked in medical records at Carbon Hospital for many years and eventually served as the administrative secretary until 1980 when she opened her beloved floral shop, “Love Floral.” She created beautiful arrangements of love for many years working alongside her cherished daughter, daughter-in-law, and many dear friends before eventually retiring. Retirement found her serving in the role she loved most, the sacred role of Gram. The doors of Gram’s house were always open. Whether it was 4:00 a.m. or midnight her grandkids were always welcomed and showed up often. If visiting in the morning you were greeted with either mush, burnt toast, or a butter and sugar sandwich. Afternoons were for snack time, “20 second” lectures, and carpooling the grandkids to their activities. Nighttime, always the busiest, was spent playing Skip-Bo and Mexican Train. They also found great enjoyment following the grandkids around; be it sporting events, school activities, plays, dance recitals, church programs, whatever they had going Gram and Grandpa were always there. In the rare moments she had time to herself, she enjoyed crocheting and made beautiful Afghans.
Rae is survived by her sons, Kent (Diane) Procarione, Huntington, Gary (Beth) Procarione and Steven (Lisa) Procarione, both of Price; 11 grandchildren (and spouses) and 17 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; beloved daughter, Karen; son-In-Law; brothers-In-law and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews and many friends.
