Larry Eldon Hawkinson, age 79, passed away peacefully at his home on November 9, 2022.

Larry was born in Bellingham, Washington on May 24, 1943, to Arthur Marvin and Martha Margaret Gienger Hawkinson. Married Carol Silkwood in 1993. To this union three children were born, Darin and twins, Dana and Greg. Larry and Carol would later divorce.

Larry would later meet the love of his life, Norma Dean Weber, and the two married in Jackson Hole, Wyoming on July 12, 1980. Larry gained two more children, Conra and Todd, whom he loved as his own. Norma Dean passed away April 11, 2022.

When he was young, Larry worked during the summer and gave the money to his parents for school clothes. He picked strawberries, raspberries, string beans, cucumbers and anything else that would make extra money for the family.

He loved to run and started running track in junior high. He loved it so much he would run to and from school. Larry continued running at Bellingham High School where he participated in cross country and the 440 relay at state. He also played football until an injury derailed his football career. Larry graduated from Bellingham High School in 1961 and began his working career.

After various jobs from Washington to Arkansas and then to Missouri, Larry made his way to Utah during a Thanksgiving break, visiting a friend in Dragerton. While in Utah, he applied for work at Atlantic Research Company. He later was awarded the job and moved from Missouri to Utah to begin a new chapter in his life.

Larry and Carol later divorced, prompting him to move to Wake Island in the South Pacific for 14 months. There he enjoyed the weather and the freedom before moving back to Utah for work.

He met Norma Dean Weber in May 1977 and the two began dating. During this time, Larry was severely injured in a mining accident that nearly took his life. A broken neck and four and half months later, Larry was back to work. He later went to work for Green River City at the water plant, retiring after 10 years in 2010. Norma Dean and Larry enjoyed retirement and the life they built for 33 years in Green River.

Larry is survived by his children, Darin Hawkinson, Greg (Martin) Hawkinson, Dana (Salena) Radka, Todd (Carol) Weber, Conra Weber; brother, Kenneth (Merletta) Hawkinson; sister, Ginny (Stan) Gillespie; brother-in-law, Ben Dumas; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Norma Dean Hawkinson; brother, Edward.

Graveside services for Larry will take place Wednesday, November 16, 2022, 12:30 p.m., Elgin Cemetery (Hastings Road, Green River, Utah). The family will receive friends for a visitation at the Green River Ward building (95 N Clark St, Green River, UT 84525) from 11:00 – 12:00 noon before the graveside service.
