It’s time for another Huntington City update with Mayor Leonard Norton who took time to speak over the telephone with Castle Country Radio to discuss water conservation, winter weather clean-up, Christmas city party and Holiday wishes.

Water conservation efforts paid off this year as many citizens were very water conscience throughout the summer months. “Got to give kudos to the citizens of Huntington they stepped up really well. We were able to get through the water year with our good allotment, and we didn’t have to ration very much. Everybody was considerate and conscience in how they used their water this year. It would be really nice to have a good and heavy winter this year to see if we could get some reservoirs filled back up and that for the year and coming year to try and get over this drought we’re having,” stated Mayor Norton. Residents should be very proud of their hard work in conserving water this past summer.

The winter months will bring in snow and with that citizens need to keep in mind that there are important cleanup efforts to practice as per city ordinances. “We always encourage our citizens that the sidewalks in front of your house, if you have them, that need to be kept clean, that’s kind of the homeowner’s responsibility keep their sidewalks clean. We haven’t decided just yet this year how we’re going to plow snow. We plowed it in the middle, we’ve plowed it to the side, so we’re still discussing that to see the best way we can do it. But we encourage if you do plow it out of your driveways, please don’t plow it into the roads, push it to the side. Try not to plug up the gutters up so when it melts, we don’t’ have big ice dams,” explained Mayor Norton. Also, please keep vehicles off the roadways after a snow storm so that when the city plows the streets there is not any obstructions in the way.

Huntington City is preparing for the holidays by hosting their annual holiday city celebration. “We have our annual Christmas Party, it’ll be the first of Dec. it’s a Thursday, if I’m not mistaken, it’s at 5:00 pm and it’ll be at our fire station again. We’ll do our drive through again, and hand you something to eat, and get a greeting from Santa Clause and a little treat for the kids,” said Mayor Norton. Everyone in the community is invited to attend this free event. If further details are needed residents can call City Hall to get more information.

The holiday season is approaching and the city would like to send wishes out to the entire community, “I would like to wish all my citizens of Huntington and the surrounding areas a happy holiday, happy Thanksgiving, and a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. You know, get into the spirit of the holidays and take care of one another, and show kindness and love to our neighbors, and that. See if we can have joyous holiday season this year in Huntington City.”
